Parallel Studies - Conditions
Parallel studies:
1. Are offered to applicants to accredited bachelor's and master's study programmes at the FE of PU Olomouc in the event of high interest in some fields of study, subject to a decision by faculty management.
2. Take place as paid classroom or combined studies (combined classroom/distance studies) in accordance with Section 60 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., the higher education act, as amended (hereinafter the "Act").
3. If the base annual fee is broken down into two instalments, the entire annual fee increases by 15%.
4. A successful graduate of parallel studies may have up to 60% of credits from an accredited field of study recognized upon transfer from parallel studies to corresponding standard studies in an accredited Bachelor's or Master's programme (see Section 60 of the Act), provided he/she meets all conditions for acceptance into the relevant programme. He/she shall complete studies as a student of the FE of PU Olomouc pursuant to the Act, receiving the corresponding university degree.
5. Study plans have been modified to reflect this.
6. A participant in parallel studies in the Lifelong Education programme is not, pursuant to Section 60 of the Act, a university student, but a participant in the LE programme, with all resultant consequences – for example, he/she must respect all implementing standards of PU Olomouc and the FE of PE Olomouc that govern the implementation of LE programmes at he FE of PU Olomouc.
Professional qualifications gained through parallel studies are identical with professional qualifications gained through studies exclusively in an accredited study programme (without using parallel studies).
A study fee is paid:
1. in bachelor's study programmes for the first two years of studies – there is no fee for the 3rd year of study, and in associated two-year master's programmes for the 1st year of study, with the 2nd year being free of charge;
2. in five-year ("long") master's programmes, for the first three years of studies, with year 4 and 5 being free of charge.
Parallel studies are part of accredited bachelor's and master's programmes (studies leading to a university diploma). It is intended for and offered to individuals who pass entrance exams but are not accepted for studies because other applicants were given precedence. Acceptance to parallel studies is contingent upon delivery of proof of payment of the tuition fee.
The final decision on whether or not parallel studies will be offered in individual fields of study listed below shall be made by the end of June 2012. Once they have paid the tuition fee, applicants will be sent a decision of the Dean of the FE of PU Olomouc to accept them for parallel studies. Proof of payment of tuition fees must be sent so that it is receive by the Centre for Lifelong Education of the FE of PU Olomouc no later than 18 August 2012.
Applicants for parallel studies are ranked and accepted according to their entrance exam results for the relevant accredited study programme!
Registration for the first year of parallel studies shall likely take place in mid-September 2012. Dates will be set and more closely specified by the Study Department of the FE of PU Olomouc. All initial organizational matters related to parallel studies are addressed by the Centre for Lifelong Education of the FE of PU Olomouc (see the CLE of the FE of PU official electronic bulletin board – "Contacts" section).
The parallel studies offering will be finalized around the end of June 2012 or the start of July 2012, based on the results of entrance exam results.
